Privacy policy
Amen Club was made to be a safe place for your faith. What is yours stays yours. Here, in plain words, is what happens with your data.
The essentials
- Your journal, notes, check-in, Screen Fast and workout details stay on your device.
- SOS, Crisis and Hard Night are always open: no account, no record, no notifications.
- There are no ads, no payments, and nobody sells your data.
- You can delete your account whenever you want, in a few taps.
Who looks after your data
Amen Club is published by Gunto Collective, responsible for your data under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law 13,709/2018). Our privacy channel (data protection officer) is contact@amenclub.app.
What is only yours
Your journal, notes, check-in, Screen Fast, sets, loads and records live on your device. They do not go to our server, your group or your church.
- On Android, they are kept in an encrypted database.
- On the web, the journal and check-in are off, and you can keep just a simple note in your browser.
- Want to move everything to another device? A backup is an encrypted file you create and keep wherever you like. Only you have the key.
SOS, Crisis and Hard Night
These screens are here for the hard moments. They are free, work offline and without an account, and nothing you do in them is recorded.
What we keep if you create an account
Accounts and groups are for people 18 and older. To make them work, we keep only what is needed:
- From your Google account: identifier, name and email. Google sign-in may also give us a link to your photo, which the app does not use.
- Your year of birth and your agreement, with the date and text version.
- Your groups, including whether they are for workouts, running or wellbeing, your role in them and your attendance at meetings.
- The questions and prayer requests you send to the group. If they are unnamed, we do not store who wrote them.
- If you choose to show them in a workout group: your name and your workouts, minutes and volume for the week.
- The reports and blocks you make.
- Your device identifier for group alerts, if you allow notifications.
Of your daily life, your group sees your attendance. In a workout group, you can also choose to show your workouts, minutes and volume for the week, and stop anytime. Body weight, measurements, calories and photos never go there. Your reading, journal and Screen Fast remain yours. And a report about a leader never reaches their church.
Your faith, with your consent
Joining a group reveals your faith, and the LGPD gives this information special care. So we only keep it with the yes you give when you join. Changed your mind? Leave the group or delete your account, anytime.
Nico
Nico is Amen Club's artificial intelligence, built with Google's Vertex AI. It helps you find a Bible passage for where you are and go deeper into the daily devotional. What you write goes to it only to create the answer, and we do not keep it. Processing may happen outside Brazil.
Verses always come from the app's Bible, and Nico does not speak for God. If what you write shows you are going through a crisis, it stops and the app shows the screen with help channels.
Who else is involved
- Google (Firebase and Google Cloud), which handles sign-in, the database, notifications, crash reports and Nico, always on our behalf. The database and functions are in São Paulo, Brazil.
- Your group, which sees only what we described above.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it or to protect someone at risk.
Some parts of these services may run outside Brazil. When they do, we follow article 33 of the LGPD and Google Cloud's data protection terms.
Making the app better
If you want to help, you can turn on Google Analytics under Privacy. It starts off and you can change it anytime. It counts which screens were opened and milestones like finishing a reading or a workout, with no advertising ID. It never receives what you write, pray or read, or anything from SOS, Crisis, Breathe, Wave, your journal or reports. It also estimates your approximate region. People under 18 are not measured. This data is kept for up to 14 months.
On Android, Firebase Crashlytics receives technical reports when the app fails, without the content of your journal or notes, so we can fix the problem. They are kept for up to 90 days. The app also uses a technical device identifier for this and to confirm to the server that it is the real app.
How long
- Your account and groups: as long as the account exists.
- When you delete your account: we remove everything within 30 days, except what the law asks us to keep.
- Reports and safety records: for as long as needed to protect groups.
Your rights
Your data is yours. You can find out what we have, ask for a copy, correct it, delete it, learn who we share it with and withdraw your consent, as article 18 of the LGPD guarantees. Do it in the app, under You, or write to contact@amenclub.app. We answer within 15 days. You can also talk to Brazil's data protection authority (ANPD).
To delete your account, see how to delete your account.
People under 18
The Bible and SOS are open to everyone, with no account and no record. Accounts and groups are for people 18 and older, which is why we ask for your year of birth.
How we protect it
Communication with the server is encrypted, and database rules limit who can read each piece of information. If an incident ever affects you, we will let you and the ANPD know.
When this page changes
If we change something important, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The last review date is at the top.
